Sequins & bows

Topshop blouse // Vero Moda Shorts // Topshop boots

This outfit incorporates some of my favourite things:
  • sequins
  • shorts
  • that bit of cream ribbon I found somewhere
(Really, I have worn this ribbon so many ways - as a belt, around the collar of a shirt, in my hair..)

I'm off to Londontown this weekend and for once I have a bag checked in for the flight, so I'll be able to shop shop shop! We're heading to Westfield, which is the biggest shopping centre in London -  I think. I can't imagine that there's a bigger one. I don't have any particular purchases in mind, but I do love to go to Topshop in the UK. It's amazing to be able to buy things in £sterling without the extra 1/3 or so "Ireland tax" that we have to pay here. £54 does not equal €76!

Make a statement

Urban Outfitters top // Vero Moda shorts // Urban Outfitters belt

I just got this necklace and it was interesting to build an outfit around a piece of jewellery. I want to start adding "statement jewellery" to my wardrobe. Usually I go for small, delicate pieces like a gold chain with a tiny letter or symbol on them. I do like them, but they're barely visible as part of an outfit. Sometimes it's hard to separate items that as I like as an object, and ones that actually look interesting when I'm wearing them!

Red and Green Should Never Be Seen

Zara coat // Next jeans // Aldo brogues

I've been putting off posting about Autumn/Winter because every time I think I've finished my little clothes collage something new and lovely appears in the shops. I love A/W - the cosiness of it, the colours, the textures, the layering, and most especially the fact that we can dress for the weather. It's almost never warm or sunny during the Irish summer and it's a pain dressing in a light dress or a t-shirt and getting rained on repeatedly. In Autumn we can finally acknowledge that it's chilly, windy and drizzly and it's ok to wear a scarf and hat!

I'm trying to hold back on buying lots of cardies, woolly tights and jumpers because you never know when something even better will appear in store and it's still early in the season. But I have taken the plunge and bought my Winter coat from Zara. I love it! It really makes me look forward to the sunny, freezing days we should be having soon enough.

Roman Holiday

I'm going to a "Film Fatale" screening of Roman Holiday tonight, which means that I'm supposed to dress up in 1950s style. I'm trying to approximate Audrey Hepburn's outfit from the movie, but unfortunately what looks incredible on her, makes me look like an air hostess. I'm so in awe of people with a natural chicness - is it just beauty or is there another ingredient which means they always look so fabulous no matter what they're wearing?

I haven't seen the film before so I'm looking forward to that, and I love Audrey Hepburn - it's always great to see a woman rocking short hair!
