Singin' in the Rain

I've posted before about Film Fatale - it's a supercute club night where an old movie is screened, and everyone dresses up as the era in the film. After the movie there's a DJ playing music from the 40s and 50s, which I love! So far I've been to see Roman Holiday and Double Indemnity. And tonight it's time for "Singin' in the Rain"!
I found it pretty tricky to put an outfit together. I love 1920s style but it doesn't suit my body shape  at all, so I don't have any twenties inspired clothes in my wardrobe. Drop-waisted flapper dresses do not flatter the curvy!
My faux fur is making an appearance once again - a very lazy way to do vintage I suppose. Aside from getting to dress up, I'm actually really excited to see the movie, as I've never seen it before. What do you think of 20s fashion? Is it something you would incorporate into your daily style? I'm definitely planning to wear the turban again!

Are you listening Santa?

I've been so preoccupied with buying Christmas presents that I hadn't started thinking about what might be on my own Christmas wishlist! Disgraceful eh?
Here are just a few of the pretty things I'd love to find in my stocking on the 25th. Nothing too extravagant, I'm sure Santa can sort me out with some of these..
What are you wishing for this Christmas? Have you managed to finish your shopping yet? It's my boyfriend's birthday on the 28th, damn him, so I still have some more gifts to buy!

Layers upon layers

I'm very unprepared for the sudden drop in temperature. Instead of having thermal undies, a poofy jacket and proper winter boots, I just layer up my usual clothes until I feel warm enough. I don't tend to put away "summer" clothes and take out "winter" ones. I put t-shirts or vests as a base layer, wear light dresses with thicker tights and wear multiple pairs of socks at once as conditions dictate.
My light spring scarves also become indoor scarves when it's particularly chilly. There's been something wrong with the heating in work for a few years now, so it's always good to have an extra cardigan at hand for when you're freezing at your desk! I also keep a spare pair of shoes in work for when I get soaked on my way in.
When the heating does decide to kick in and we're all suffocating in the office it's also a bonus to be able to remove a layer. Being overheated in a stuffy room is unpleasant.
The problem with layering is trying to find a way of doing it wear a) the layers match, and b) the layers don't make you look like a lumpy weirdo. These are my go-to layering shorts because they're a big baggy at the waist, so you can tuck a lot of tops in there before they start bunching up and becoming visible.
Do you do layering or are you a sensible person who wears proper, weather appropriate clothing?

Happy December!

Hurrah, hurrah, December is here! That means it's pretty much Christmas NOW. Or at the very least, you can legitimately start Christmas shopping, listening to Christmas music, eating mince pies and getting into the Christmas spirit. I have added some snow to my blog header, it's my little hint to the snow gods to throw some snow my way before the end of the year! Did I say "snow" enough times there? Take the hint, snow!

Also I am just thrilled to have gained a few new followers in the past week, taking me over the magical 5-0. To celebrate and say thanks I am planning a little Christmas giveaway so keep an eye out! And thanks to every who reads, follows or comments on my blog, it's so very much appreciated.
Honestly I think this is the longest dress I've ever worn! But when I look at the photos it doesn't look that long really. I think of it as a maxi dress/foray into 90s grunge - this is about a maxi as I ever plan to go. I wore it in the rain last week and got absolutely drenched though, which is one maxi hazard I hadn't considered.
Ideally I would wear my wedge ankle boots with this outfit but unfortunately the pinched nerve in my foot is playing up, and my other foot is starting to hurt too. I went to the physio and apparently I have unusually thin feet. What a completely useless place to be thin! I am so jealous of all the ladies I see walking around in high heels right now.. I never really cared about wearing heels until I found out that I can't.

So are you excited that it's December? What's your favourite part of the season?
